Stainless & Duplex Steel

Duplex, typically grade EN 1.4410 up to so-called Hyper duplex grades developed later to meet specific demands of the oil & gas as well as those of the chemical industries. They offer a superior corrosion resistance and strength but are more difficult to process because the higher contents of Cr, Ni, Mo, N and even W promote the formation of intermetallic phases, which reduce drastically the impact resistance of the steel.

Carbon & Alloy Steel

Steel is considered to be carbon steel when no minimum content is specified or required for chromium, cobalt, columbium [niobium], molybdenum, nickel, titanium, tungsten, vanadium or zirconium, or any other element to be added to obtain a desired alloying effect; when the specified minimum for copper does not exceed 0.40 per cent; or when the maximum content specified for any of the following elements does not exceed the percentages noted: manganese 1.65, silicon 0.60, copper 0.60.

Nickel & Copper Alloy

Copper and nickel are adjacent to one another in the periodic system of elements, with atomic numbers 29 and 28 and atomic weights 63.54 and 68.71. The two elements are closely related and are completely miscible in both the liquid and solid state. Cu-Ni alloys crystallise over the whole concentration range in a face-centred cubic lattice. The lattice spacing of the face-centre cubic solid solution varies almost linearly with atomic concentration between the values for copper (3.6153 . 10-8cm) and that for nickel (3.5238 . 10-8cm).

Hastelloy

Hastelloy C276 is a nickel-molybdenum-chromium superalloy with an addition of tungsten designed to have excellent corrosion resistance in a wide range of severe environments. The high nickel and molybdenum contents make the nickel steel alloy especially resistant to pitting and crevice corrosion in reducing environments while chromium conveys resistance to oxidizing media).
